Faculty/Staff/Student Positions
The
Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the
University of Texas at Arlington (UT Arlington) invites applicants for
a full-time faculty position in the general area of Water
Resources/Hydraulics at the Full Professor or the Associate Professor
level with tenure. Exceptional candidates at the tenure-track Assistant
Professor level will also be considered. Candidates are sought with
specialty in water resources, hydrology and hydraulics including, but
not limited to: surface water and ground water hydrology, watershed
BMPs, distributed modeling, radar hydrology and remote sensing, GIS
applications, stochastic and probabilistic techniques. The degree
requirements are completion of a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or a
closely related area and completion of a Ph.D. degree in Civil
Engineering with emphasis in Water Resources/Hydraulics. Expected start
date for the position is Fall 2008. P.E. licensure or the ability to
obtain one within a few years is required. Industrial, consulting, or
governmental experience is desirable. Candidates for the position
should be committed to teaching excellence, seeking, obtaining, and
conducting sponsored research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals,
and active participation in professional service.
The CEE program is the only one of its kind at a public university in
the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) region, offering ample employment
opportunities for graduates. The CEE Department has state of the art
laboratories, classrooms, and computing facilities, and provides a
stimulating study and research atmosphere for both students and
faculty. The CEE Department is among one the fastest growing
departments within the College of Engineering, with 19 full-time
faculty members and 460 undergraduate and graduate students.
Student enrollment has increased by about 20% and external research
funding has increased by about 100% over the last two years. New
initiatives with the significant industrial base in the DFW Metroplex
area are being pursued. Innovative student curricula and career
advising strategies are being developed and implemented.
Multi¬disciplinary research/education centers in areas of
national/international critical needs are being established, including
a Disaster Mitigation Center and a proposed Center for Structural
Engineering Research (CSER). During this unprecedented expansion, the
CEE Department is firmly committed to maintaining high levels of
teaching/service excellence simultaneously with significant growth in
