HYDROLOGY/WATER RESOURCES FACULTY
POSITION
The Department of Civil Engineering (CE) at the University of Texas at
Arlington (UT Arlington) invites applicants for a tenured or
tenure-track faculty position in the area of Hydrology/Water Resources
starting Fall 2010. Candidates are sought at the Associate or
Assistant Professor level with primary specialty in hydrology/water
resources. The requirements are completion of a B.S. in Civil
Engineering or a closely related field and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering
area or a closely related field. At least one degree must be in
Civil Engineering. P.E. licensure, or the ability to obtain one
within five years of joining the department, is required. Industrial,
consulting, or governmental experience is preferred, but not required.
Candidates should be committed to sponsored research procurement,
publishing in peer-reviewed journals, dedication to teaching excellence
and active participation in professional service.
UT Arlington is located at the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex, the largest non-port metropolitan area in the U.S. with a population of more than 5 million. Excellent recreational, entertainment and cultural facilities, modern shopping complexes and professional sports organizations are located in Arlington (population 365,000) and nearby. The CE program is the only one of its kind at a public university in the DFW and the north Texas region, offering ample employment opportunities. The College of Engineering is one of the largest engineering colleges in Texas. The CE department is one of the fastest growing departments within the College with 20 full-time faculty members and about 500 students. The Department is in an upward trend. Student enrollment and external research funding increased about 100% over the last seven years. New initiatives with the significant industrial base in the DFW Metroplex are being pursued. Multi-disciplinary research/education centers in areas of national/international critical needs are being established. In this process, the Department hopes to significantly contribute towards UT Arlington’s efforts to bring a Tier 1 university status to the DFW and north Texas area.
