The University of Texas System Contractor Safety Training Pilot Program

UT Arlington Continuing Education in conjunction with The University of Texas System (UTS) has created a pilot contractor safety training program that addresses unique campus hazards and procedures as well as construction industry topics and general industry requirements. This pilot program is specifically training workers involved with the UTA Maverick Activities Building Addition and Renovation Project. Classes are conducted in English and Spanish.

UT Arlington Continuing Education Division Delivers Texas Department of Transportation Training for Workers in Texas Counties and Cities

Traffic volume, road usage and road work in Texas are at record levels. Worker, motorist, and pedestrian safety are critical considerations as work is performed. To assist supervisors and workers with safe and efficient design, construction and maintenance of public roadways, TxDOT is utilizing UT Arlington to design and deliver a suite of courses that train personnel to perform their roadway work safely.

UT Arlington Receives Federal OSHA Funds to Train Contractors and Sub-Contractors throughout Southwestern States

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) awarded the UT Arlington Continuing Education Division with funding to conduct outreach training in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. This 26-hour class consists of work zone safety training addressing highway and roadway construction work zones in addition to disaster site cleanup followed by delivery of the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training.

UT Arlington Selected for TxDOT Employee Training

Faced with the challenge of enhancing internal training programs, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) contracted with UT Arlington Continuing Education to develop and teach a variety of training programs to TxDOT employees and contractors. Currently UT Arlington is delivering 18 courses for various disciplines.

UT Arlington Continuing Education Delivers Engineering Safety Reviews for Texas Cities and Counties

UT Arlington is assisting the Texas Department of Transportation with Safety Evaluation Reviews. The reviews consist of a safety orientation, proper installation of traffic control devices, roadway and roadside features and cost effective operational improvements. Classroom reviews are designed for an audience of personnel involved with road, street, and sign maintenance. Onsite field reviews of selected sites within the community are made and local officials receive written engineering evaluations.
