STEP 2: Complete the ALEKS Chemistry Assessment

First: Know the Goals

For CHEM 1441 Students:

The primary goal is to help you prepare for CHEM 1441 by reviewing pre-college chemistry topics that may have been forgotten since you last took a chemistry class.

For CHEM 1442 Students:

The primary goal is to help you prepare for CHEM 1442 by reviewing CHEM 1441 chemistry topics that may have been forgotten since you last took CHEM 1441 (or its equivalent) chemistry class.

Second: Know the Rules

-     Be Honest. If you try to game the system, you will double or triple the amount of work you have to do in the long run.

-     When in "Assessment Mode" do not use notes, books, or help from anything or anyone.  Students who get help from outside sources during assessment typically take 3 times longer to complete the program.

-     Have on hand:

Writing utensil, such as a favorite pencil

        Scratch paper

Favorite calculator (or you can use the ALEKS online calculator)

-     It is acceptable to use any of the tables that ALEKS has available during the assessment (example: solubility rules) in the tabs across the top of the ALEKS web pages

-     Expect the assessment to take 1.5-2 hours to complete.

-     The ALEKS Chemistry assessment is NOT A TIMED TEST.

-     Please note that ALEKS Chemistry is not just a single assessment. It’s also a powerful, adapts-to-your-needs learning environment. So, while a high initial ALEKS Chemistry score is nice, it’s your final score that counts.

-      Once you have finished the assessment and are in "Learning Mode" you are encouraged to use any learning resources you like.

I've purchased the ALEKS package and I'm Ready to Begin
