Departmental Funding Priorities

The College of Education consists of three academic departments: Curriculum and Instruction; Educational Leadership and Policy Studies; and Kinesiology. Each Department has identified areas of strategic focus for support that will contribute to the betterment of its students, faculty, and programs.


Curriculum & Instruction Funding Priorities

Department Mission

  • Graduate student scholarship funds to support:
    1. Undergraduate scholarships
    2. Graduate scholarships
  • Program funds/endowments to encourage and support:
    1. AUSNER Project: collaborative teacher preparation project between UTA and AISD
    2. Center for Urban Literacy
    3. Program development

Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Funding Priorities

Department Mission

  • Graduate student scholarship funds to support:
    1. Graduate student scholarships;
    2. an internship program similar to the U.T. Austin program for aspiring superintendents, i.e., the “Nolan Estates” doctoral program
  • Graduate student funds/endowments to support:
    1. Graduate student travel to state and federal capitols to study educational policy issues
    2. Graduate student participation in regional, state, national and international conferences to advance the study of educational policy and practice
  • Program funds/endowments to encourage and support:
    1. ongoing collaboration among school districts, business and industry leaders, community organizations and the Department to continue to address the changing needs of the public schools, e.g., meetings, conferences and volunteer programs
    2. faculty development in the creation of new on-line courses to meet certain requirements for degree and certification

Kinesiology Department Funding Priorities

  3. Graduate endowments for assistantships/travel
  4. Program funds/endowments
  5. Equipment donations
