R. A. “Bobby” Lane Scholarship Endowment

Do you remember that special teacher?

The one who inspired you; who motivated you to succeed; the one who believed in you. Chances are there was more than one who made a difference in your life.

They were our heroes, our friends, our cheerleaders, and our supporters. No matter what career or life path you have chosen, a teacher contributed not just the skills, but also the foundations of who we have become.

Through the Legacy of Education scholarship program, each department of the College of Education identified student scholarships at the top of the list of its funding priorities.

In 2003, the Department of Kinesiology and Athletic Training Program along with the Athletic Department received permission from alumnus and retired Associate Professor and Athletic Trainer, Bobby Lane (serving UTA from 1955-1983) to endow the annual scholarship presented to outstanding Athletic Training students in his honor.

A gift to the R. A. “Bobby” Lane Scholarship Endowment through the Legacy of Education scholarship program recognizes Bobby’s contributions to Athletic Training, the University community and its students by enhancing educational opportunities for others. You will receive an acknowledgement for your honorarium or memorial, and the College of Education will send notification of this recognition to the family of Bobby Lane.

A gift to the Bobby Lane Scholarship Endowment is a permanent investment in the future of the Athletic Training Program and a legacy of Bobby’s full life. Endowment gifts can be made in honor or memory of a loved one, and may be given in many forms such as cash, stock, life insurance, or real estate. In any case, the gift will be designated for the Bobby Lane Scholarship Endowment and the Endowment’s interest income will be used for the purpose awarding the Bobby Lane scholarship in perpetuity, ensuring the Legacy of Education, Athletic Training and Bobby Lane.
