Rebecca Wright Memorial Scholarship Endowment

The one who inspired you; who motivated you to succeed; the one who believed in you. Chances are there was more than one who made a difference in your life.
They were our heroes, our friends, our cheerleaders, and our supporters. No matter what career or life path you have chosen, a teacher contributed not just the skills, but also the foundations of who we have become.
The Rebecca Wright Endowed Memorial Scholarship, in honor of George and Valerie Wright’s daughter, is being established with gifts generously given by the Arlington Chapter of the NAACP, Cornerstone Baptist Church, friends and family of George and Valerie Wright, and the faculty and staff of The University of Texas at Arlington. The purpose of the scholarship endowment is to provide a permanent vehicle through which to honor Rebecca Wright.
Rebecca Wright was born in Lexington, Kentucky on March 20, 1979. She was a 2001 graduate of Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas, and from that time to becoming ill, she attended Tarrant County Community College. Despite being born with some physical handicaps, she was a determined individual. You could always count on Rebecca to work to the best of her ability; she never quit; and she refused to allow any "handicap" to prevent her from participating in an activity. Often after meeting her, people were so taken with her personality and determination. She became everyone's favorite. Rebecca Wright died on March 8, 2004. Through the establishment of this endowment her memory and her determination to succeed is honored.
A gift, regardless of the amount, to the Rebecca Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund will make a difference to lives of current and future students and assist us in creating a legacy for Rebecca. Endowment gifts can be made in honor or memory of a loved one, and may be given in many forms such as cash, stock, life insurance, or real estate. In any case, the gift will be designated for the Rebecca Wright Scholarship Endowment and the Endowment’s interest income will be used for the purpose awarding the scholarship in perpetuity, ensuring the Legacy of Rebecca Wright and Education.
