Special Program for First Year Students

Joining a Freshman Interest Group (FIG) is a fantastic way to meet students with similar interests and get connected to UTA people and places!

Take classes together, study in groups and hang out with other first year students. The goal of the FIG is to help students succeed in college, make critical decisions and become actively engaged in the campus community.

The “Teaching and Learning” FIG is for students who are considering careers in teaching, counseling and education. Specific experiences are designed to help students confirm academic major decisions and establish plans for positive and rewarding careers.
