GRADUATE SCHOOL. TRANSFER COURSES MUST BE 5 YEARS OLD OR LESS WITH A GRADE
OF B OR BETTER AND BE A DIRECT EQUIVALENT TO AN EDUCATION COURSE.
TRANSFERS ARE NOT ACCEPTED FOR EDAD 5381, 5382, 5383, 5384 OR 5330.
Probationary Certificate* The
following are required before you will qualify to be recommended
1-Completed EDAD 5381, 5382, 5383, 5384 (Grades must be posted)
2-Be enrolled in EDAD 5389 or EDAD 5399 for the entire year of the
probationary certificate.
3-Be employed by a TEA accredited school as an assistant principal or principal
4-Have Superintendent or authorized representative sign required application for UTA (application available at Certification and Advising office)
*According
to TEA, in order to recommend a candidate for the Probationary Certificate, the
candidate must have a district assistant principal/internship employment
assignment and maintain continuous enrollment in a certification program and
internship course during the one-year probationary certificate. To apply for a
Probationary Certificate extension, candidate must continue program enrollment,
internship course and employment.
Summary of
Requirements for Principal Certification
1.
holds or has held a standard teacher certificate;
2.
has had a minimum of two *creditable years classroom teaching experience
(teacher service record must be sent
from the school district directly to the Director
of Certification via US Postal Service)
3.
holds a master's degree (degree must be conferred which can take
several weeks after graduation);
4.
has completed an approved administrative internship
5.
has completed an approved program designed for meeting the certification
requirements (all coursework must be
completed and grades must be posted); and
6.
passed the TExES Standard Principal Certificate Exam

NEW POLICY ê
(Effective March 25, 2008):
Candidates are approved to take the TExES Principal Exam
:
1) after passing grades have been posted for EDAD 5381, 5382, 5383,
5384 and 5330
OR
if they are currently enrolled in or have successfully completed EDAD
5399
AND
2) they have scored 80% on the
Principal Practice Test.
*Creditable years is defined as
having been completed in an accredited school district. Out of state
teaching experience may qualify provided it was done within a school
accredited by that state.
