Q:        I was recently admitted; how do I obtain clearance?
A:         New and re-admitted students are required to attend a new student orientation once officially admitted before clearance to register.  Please contact your graduate advisor for more information.

Q:        Do I need a student identification card?
A:         Yes.  Please obtain a student identification card through the MavExpress office. 

 

Q:        I’m in a leadership cohort and it says I need special permission to enroll in my coursework when I try to register.  What’s wrong?

A:         All cohort members need special permission to register each semester.  Please complete the online clearance form request.

 

Q:        I have a job offer and need a status letter.
A:         Please email your graduate advisor requesting a status letter and list what exams, if any, passed.  The status letter is available by email or pick up only.  It will be complete in 48 hours if there is no problem with your account. Please remember that only one status letter is issued during your program. 

 

Q:        What is the process for dropping a course?
A:         Please email your graduate advisor and complete THIS FORM.           

 

Q:        What is the process for withdrawing from the university?
A:         Complete the WITHDRAWAL REQUEST and schedule an appointment with your graduate advisor ASAP!

 

Q:        How do I request course clearance?
A:         Online clearance form.

 

Q:        How do I make an appointment with my graduate advisor?
A:         Call the Certification and Advising Office (817-272-2956) and the front office will schedule an appointment with your graduate advisor at your convenience.

 

Q:        What do I complete for graduation?
A:         Complete the application for graduation (http://grad.uta.edu/currentStudents/VirtualGraduateSchoolAdvisor.asp) within the first 30 days from the start of your graduating semester and return to the Graduate School.  Please complete the graduation checklist (same link) to make sure all materials are complete.  The Certification and Advising office will complete your final program of work on your behalf. 

 

Q:        How do I register after late registration but before census?
A:         Between the end of late registration and census date, students are required to complete the ‘Late Registration Form’ from the Registrar’s office.  The form requires your graduate advisor’s signature.  Once signed, please return the form to the Registrar’s office for registration to be complete. 

 

Q:        How do I request a review of transfer coursework?
A:         Please complete the transfer request form (http://grad.uta.edu/CurrentStudents/cyberAdvisingForms.asp) and return the signed form and course description to your graduate advisor.

Q:        How do I access my program of work?
A:         You may access your program of work through eSam.

 

Q:        I have met my probationary conditions, when will my status be updated?
A:         Each semester your graduate advisor runs a list of students who have met their probationary conditions.  Our office sends a list to the Graduate School for the status to be updated and you will receive a letter from our office letting you know your status has been updated to Unconditional. 

 

Q:        How long do I have to meet provisional conditions?
A:         Your provision(s) must be met by the end of your first semester for continued enrollment.  Also keep in mind that it can take up to six weeks or longer for ETS to report your GRE scores to the University of Texas at Arlington.  Remember that while you may be allowed to register for subsequent semester courses, if Provisional requirements are not met, you will be automatically dropped from all classes after the semester grades are run.
