FAQs about Professional Certification
1) Can I become teacher certified with a bachelor’s degree?
Anyone who has a bachelor’s degree must complete the teacher certification
program at the graduate level.

We do not offer certification programs in Special Ed,
Diagnostician, Counseling, or Business.
3) Do you offer degree programs in Physiology of Exercise?
Yes, UTA has a M.S. program in Physiology of
Exercise. For more information please contact the
Kinesiology Department.
4) Do you have a PhD program?
A doctoral program is being developed for Educational Leadership and Policy
Studies for K-16 Education. For more information, please contact Dr.
Jeanne Gerlach.

5) When is the application deadline?

6) What application do I need to submit?
Students interested in applying for certification submit either:
i. A Special Student Application available in Graduate
Admissions, third floor Davis Hall.
ii. The Texas Common Application
available online, and indicate that you are seeking admission to a non-degree
seeking teacher certification program.
Students interested in applying for a Master’s Degree Seeking need
to submit either:
i. A Graduate Application available in Graduate
Admissions, third floor Davis Hall.
ii. The Texas Common Application
available online, and indicate which degree program you are seeking admission
to.
7) What are the admissions requirements?
See Graduate Admission Requirements.
8) What courses will I need to take?
Please schedule an appointment with a graduate
advisor (817•272•2956).
The required courses will depend on the particular program and your background.
9) Do you have alternative certification?
No, our certification is a graduate level program. If you already have a
bachelor’s degree, you will need to be admitted to the Graduate School
before you can begin working on your teacher certification. See also: Probationary

10) Can I transfer hours into your program?
Program directors need to approve transfer credit.
