Pre-Professional Phase of Study

The Pre-professional requirements include:
- KINE 2320 Introduction to Athletic Training (3 credit hours) [Grade of B or better]*
- KINE 2120 Introduction to Athletic Training Lab (1 credit hour) [Grade of B or better]*
- KINE 2130 Clinical Practicum I (1 credit hour) [grade of B or better]*
- Completion/documentation of a minimum of 120 hours of clinical education experience in the UT Arlington athletic training room(s) and/or other approved clinical education sites.**
- Successful completion/documentation of required athletic training skills with a score of 80% or better.
* Transfer students may complete the Pre-professional coursework and clinical requirements at their current junior or senior college or complete them upon arrival to UT Arlington. Contact Dr. Fincher to determine what courses and/or clinical hours will be accepted for credits.
** Preprofessional students must complete all clinical placement prerequisites (PDF) in order to be placed in a clinical education rotation.
Professional Phase of Study
The Professional Phase of the program requires a minimum of five semesters of classroom study and structured clinical education. Students must complete a minimum of 1500 hours of clinical education experience during their professional phase of study. Completion of the program requirements will enable students to be eligible for the Board of Certification (BOC) Exam and the Texas Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers' Licensing Exam.
