UT Arlington ACSM Lectures

Overview

The mission of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is to advance and integrate scientific research to provide educational and practical applications of exercise science and sports.

Purposes

The UT Arlington ACSM Lectures are designed to:

  • Understand the biological, biomechanical and psychological bases for the changes that occur during and following exercise in both normal and pathological states.
  • Comprehend state-of-the-art and innovative basic science, applied science, and clinical information which will increase the participants' knowledge of exercise, fitness, health, and physical performance.
  • Recognize contemporary controversial issues related to sports medicine and exercise science.
  • Identify new approaches to, and perspectives on, problems in exercise science and sports medicine through interaction with scientists and clinicians in related fields.
  • Recognize the importance of basic science research to understand problems that result from physical inactivity.
