The Research and Learning Center (RLC), which is an innovative research and education project launched in 2014 as a collaboration between the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and the College of Education's Southwest Center for Mind, Brain and Education, has been awarded the prestigious Exemplifying the Mission Award from The International Mind, Brain and Education Society.
The field of Mind, Brain and Education (MBE) attempts to facilitate cross-cultural collaboration in biology, education, and the cognitive and developmental sciences. The RLC, which is housed within the museum, encourages creative interactions between researchers and the public as it explores, challenges, or integrates principles from the field of MBE. Over the last two years, research studies supported by the Research Learning Center have enlisted a total of over 10,000 participants.
The RLC invites researchers to conduct studies with museum guests, and provides additional opportunities for disseminating findings. The Center's over-arching MBE framework seeks to enhance the communication between researchers and the public, strengthening connections, and organizing meaningful learning experiences for both researchers and the public.
