College of Education professors recognized at UTA Faculty Awards

Three members of the College of Education’s faculty were honored with their faculty peers at an award ceremony held by The University of Texas at Arlington on April 25, 2017. President Vistasp Karbhari presided over the event, held at the Spring Meeting of the Faculty and Associates.

Dr. Christopher Kribs, Professor in the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, received the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, in recognition of teaching that is inspiring, effective and innovative. He was also inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Scholars and the Academy of Distinguished Teachers.

Two College of Education faculty were also recognized for Research Enhancement Program Grants for 2017-18.

Dr. David Sparks, Assistant Professor in the Department of Science Education and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, received a grant for “Where the Pipeline Ends: Analyzing the Post-Graduation Outcomes of Two Urban STEM Teacher Preparation Programs”.

Dr. Yi (Leaf) Zhang, Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, was awarded a grant for “Why Transfer Students Fail to Graduate with a STEM Degree: A Latent Class analysis of STEM Dropouts”.
