UTA’s College of Education is pleased to welcome Dr. Mario Martinez as the new Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
Dr. Martinez comes to UTA after serving as Vice Chancellor of Strategy and Innovation for the National University System. He was also a full professor at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas and was on faculty at New Mexico State University. An expert in educational leadership and higher education policy, he is also a founding partner of Soft Skills Professional, a company that provides online and onsite training to higher education professionals in customer service, management training and other soft skills areas. His work has focused on human dynamics, organizational behavior and management communications.
Dr Martinez enjoys watching movies with his family and collects Star Trek and Elvis memorabilia. He is also a secret opera fan. As a husband and father of four, Dr. Martinez knows a few things about hard work and engagement, and he looks forward to bringing that commitment and involvement to his work at the College of Education.
“I hope to serve the faculty and college in a way that builds on our strengths,” he says, “and in so doing, elevates the UTA community and the students we serve.”
