Education Professor Sparks appointed to UTeach STEM Educators Association position

David SparksDr. David Sparks, Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education, has been appointed as a Board Member-at-Large for the UTeach STEM Educators Association (USEA) for 2018-2021. Dr. Sparks has been involved in the UTeach program at UTA since 2013.

USEA brings individuals and organizations together to promote excellence in STEM teaching through educator preparation, professional learning, and leadership development programs.

USEA is governed by an Executive Board of seven members, serving three-year terms and meeting three times per year. The UTeach STEM Educators Association (USEA) unites all UTeach teacher preparation programs, UTeach alumni, and other organizations interested in promoting STEM literacy for all students.

USEA members are committed to ensuring that all students are taught by STEM teachers who have deep knowledge of STEM subject matter and who employ effective teaching practices such as inquiry-based and project-based instruction. The UTeach program, which began at the University of Texas at Austin, has expended to over 40 replication sites nationwide, including UTA.
