Education Program
Admission Requirements
- Acceptable scores on all three sections of the Texas
Higher Education Assessment (THEA) test: Reading 270*, Writing 220, Math 230.
No other test is acceptable for
undergraduate admission to the education program. While a student may be
“exempt” for purposes of University admission, the THEA test is required of all
applicants to the education program. (Note: EC-6 Bilingual and ESL students
entering the actual education program Fall 2013 and later also have to get a
270-plus on the Reading portion. Prior to Fall 2013, Bilingual and ESL
students were allowed to get 260-plus)
- Grade point average (GPA) of
2.75
Either your overall or '”last 60”
GPA must meet or exceed 2.75. All college coursework attempted is calculated in
this GPA.
- Required amount of academic coursework must be completed
The number of hours of academic
content which can be carried into the program varies depending upon the
certification level and program. EC-6 and 4-8 students, refer to your degree plan
for further information. Secondary and All-Level students, contact an advisor.
