Literacy Studies: Triple Literacy Focus

This program is entirely online.

This program includes English as a Second Language, Reading Specialist, and Master Reading Teacher certifications.
Certification as a Master Reading Teacher requires 3 years of verifiable classroom teaching experience.

LIST 5325 Current Trends in Reading & Language Arts (should precede LIST 5385)
LIST 5326 Teaching the Language Arts in Secondary Schools
LIST 5345 Content Area Reading and Writing
LIST 5346 Teaching the Writing Process
LIST 5350 Literacy Assessment
LIST 5354 Multicultural Literature for Children
LIST 5361 Language Learning: Educational Perspectives
LIST 5362 Literacy Instruction in ESL/Bilingual Settings
LIST 5385 Literacy Research (should precede LIST 5317)

LIST Elective (3 credit hours)

LIST 53XX Choose in consultation with program director

Required practicum (6 credit hours)

LIST 5316 Literacy Practicum I (must be taken in first long semester of enrollment)
LIST 5317 Literacy Practicum II (capstone- taken in last long semester of enrollment)


PROGRAM OF WORK: Upon admission to the program, you will meet with your program director to create a program of work. This
will plot out what courses you will take each semester until you complete the program.
