Faculty Research
Our faculty has a wide range of research interests, from school reform and instructional strategies to cardiovascular physiology and rehabilitation.
Three UT Arlington professors were awarded a $10,000 grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Dr. James Warren (English), Dr. Holly Hungerford-Kresser (Education) and Dr. Kim Ruebel (Education) received the grant as part of the Texas College and Career Readiness Initiative.
The new college readiness program will recruit 25 first-generation college students in different majors from the university to function as mentors to students at Arlington and Lamar high schools in the Arlington ISD.
With the Global Peaceful Paths curriculum, students learn how to manage stress and anxiety by practicing gentle yoga stretches in their Physical Education class.
Dr. Amaro-Jiménez received the Garvin Distinguished Dissertation Award at the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Peggy Semingson was recently awarded the 2009-10 Jeanne S. Chall Research Grant by Harvard University.
The project, funded by Laerdal,™ looks at quality of CPR compressions, neuromuscular fatique, and performing CPR on a manikin in a hospital bed.
Dr. Muñoz’s research focus is on gender studies in the superintendency, social justice and mentoring programs with an emphasis on gender studies.
Dr. Ray's current work seeks to identify physical factors that are modifiable and contribute to increased fall risk, which will provide a basis for exercise interventions.
Her current research focuses on experiences of marginalized groups in education, specifically minority students and faculty in higher education, as well as the connection between the retention of underrepresented students and academics.
Because the partnership between HIPPY and Head Start only just began, Dr. Lee will look at the effectiveness of the programs through multiple standardized tests administered by the Dallas Independent School District.
Dr. Stephanie Daza has six active research projects that in general seek to contribute to understanding education's role in society and particularly the role education plays in producing a socially (un)just world.
