Module Overview

First-year teachers have a significant importance to the learning community. With nearly 40% of new teachers leaving the profession within 5 years, it important that new teachers have the tools necessary to properly manage a classroom environment.

It is important to note that the term classroom environment, or alternatively, classroom management, and the term discipline are not synonymous.

For this module, you will see the various aspects of the classroom environment and hear tips and techniques on how to properly prepare, manage, and maintain the classroom environment structure. Charlotte Danielson identifies 8 domains of the classroom environment of which we will examine four domains.

These domains include:

1. Classroom Organization

2. Teacher and Student Interaction

3. Management of Instructional Groups

4. Transitions
