Graduation Celebration 2006

Graduating seniors, their families, faculty, staff and special guests joined The University of Texas at Arlington in celebrating the Class of 2006 on May 12 at Maverick Stadium.

Alumnus retired Gen. Tommy Franks was the keynote speaker for the second annual Graduation Celebration. A four-star general, Franks led the war on terrorism following Sept. 11.

Gen. Franks told the crowd that he’s been a Maverick all his life. “It’s a treat to be back on this campus,” said Franks, a 1971 UT Arlington graduate, “and it’s a treat to be a Maverick.”

UT System Board of Regents member Robert B. Rowling, President James D. Spaniolo and Provost Dana Dunn also made brief remarks. A fireworks display followed the program.
