Have Fun And Get Ahead At UTA Mavericks Communication & Media Summer Camp!

A Week Long Communication and Media Summer Camp for Grades 9-12

Hosted by the Department of Communication · July 17-21 All Day 9a.m. - 4p.m.

Careers in communication and media are growing in popularity and rank as a top degree in today's changing world. At Communication and Media Camp, high school students will get hands-on experience, explore the latest technology and create projects based on real community issues!

The camp will feature engaging, interactive sessions from top faculty at UT Arlington in various areas of communication and media including:

  • Journalism and Broadcast: Writing, editing, & video
  • Digital technology for web, apps, & graphic design
  • Professional communication & teambuilding
  • Storytelling on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, & Facebook
  • Research and creativity for advertising & public relations campaigns
  • Real news broadcasts on UTA Radio & UTA News


Camp tuition is $250 and includes lunches and parking.

Limited need-based scholarships are available. Scholarships will be considered on a rolling basis, however, priority will be given to those who submit materials by May 5, 2017. Recipients will be informed by May 22, 2017.

  • Online Registration

    Camp registration is closed now. Please contact Dustin Harp at dustinh@uta.edu for any question regarding the registration and/or the waiting list. The following information is provided for your reference only.

    A separate application should be submitted for each camper. After you have entered your application information, you will be given a choice:

    1. Submit your application electronically, then use your credit card on our secure server to immediately reserve and confirm your place at camp OR
    2. Submit your application electronically, but pay by check. Your place at camp will not be reserved until full payment is received. Checks should be made out to UTA or University of Texas at Arlington. The memo line should include "Comm Camp-Student's name."
      Please deliver checks to the Department of Communication at UTA, Fine Arts Building Room 118.

    After submitting your application, there are a few forms that you will need to fill out. The University of Texas at Arlington requires all campers to complete the following forms:

Preparing for the Camp

Participants will receive an email a few weeks prior to camp with further details, including directions, instructions regarding arrival and check-in, and the schedule.
