Have Fun And Get Ahead!

A Week Long Communication and Media Summer Camp for Grades 9-12

Hosted by the Department of Communication · July 23-27, 2018. All Day 9a.m. - 4p.m.

Careers in communication and media are growing in popularity and rank as a top degree in today's changing world. At our Communication & Media Camp, high school students will get hands-on experience, explore the latest technology and create community-based projects about real community issues.

The camp will feature engaging, interactive sessions from top faculty at UT Arlington in various areas of communication and media including

  • Journalism and Broadcast: writing, editing & video
  • Advertising & Public Relations: research and creativity for campaigns
  • Communication Technology: web design
  • Communication Studies: professional communication & teambuilding

You’ll tell stories using Twitter & Facebook and create real news broadcasts on UTA Radio & UTA News.


The week-long day camp is for grades 9-12, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Camp tuition is $299 – early bird special for $250 – and includes parking and lunch for all five days.

As space is limited, early registration is recommended!

Our “Early Bird Special” registration deadline is May 1. The final registration deadline is June 15, 2018.

A separate application should be submitted for each camper. After you have entered your application information, you will be given a choice:

  1. Submit your application electronically, then use your credit card on our secure server to immediately reserve and confirm your place at camp OR
  2. Submit your application electronically, but pay by check. Your place at camp will not be reserved until full payment is received. Checks should be made out to UTA or University of Texas at Arlington. The memo line should include "Comm Camp-Student's name."
    Please deliver checks to the Department of Communication at UTA, Fine Arts Building Room 118.

Additional Forms
After submitting your application, there are a few forms that you will need to fill out. The University of Texas at Arlington requires all campers to complete the following forms:

Cancellation through May 15, 2018. After that, you will be entitled to a 50% refund. No refund after June 15.

In Need of a Scholarship?

Limited need-based scholarships are available. Scholarships will be considered on a rolling basis, however, priority will be given to those who submit materials by May 1, 2018. Recipients will be informed by May 15, 2018.

To apply for a scholarship, students should fill out the camp application online and send two additional items: 1) students should write a one paragraph statement about why they want to participate in the camp and 2) a letter of recommendation from a teacher that addresses the need for the scholarship and the strengths of the student.
