The National Association of Hispanic Journalists will bestow the 2016 NAHJ
Presidential Dale Award to Lecturer Julian Rodriguez

en Español and research chair of BEA news division.
“Julian has been an inspiration to hundreds of journalism students under his mentorship, but most importantly he has been an impassioned advocate for Spanish language journalism,” Mekahlo Medina, NAHJ president said. “Julian is making a tremendous impact on the next generation of Latino journalists, and I’m pleased to recognize his work, passion and dedication at this year’s conference.”
The “dale” award is given to an individual or organization that has gone above and beyond to ensure fair and accurate representation of Latinos in the media.
NAHJ will present the award to Rodriguez at its national conference August 3-7, 2016, in Washington, DC.

place in the Headliners Excellence in Journalism AAA category for deadline writing.
Monica Nagy Class, BCMN
2012, received a third-place award in the deadline writing AAAA category
for her work with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The Texas Associated Press Managing Editors presented its 2015 journalism awards at its annual convention on April 10 in El Paso, Texas.

UTA Radio News won first place for Best Newscast in the South Central Broadcasting Society’s regional conference Sept. 27.
The newscast from April 2014 featured Tracie Hill, Spring 2014 BCMN grad. The SCBS includes schools from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Nebraska.

UTA Radio.com won a Radio Mercury Award this week in New York City. The winning spot, "Get Tested," was produced by Jillian Dennis
and Trey Caron
, two students from Broadcast Lecturer Lance Liguez
's Summer II Radio Production class. The award honors the best in radio creative, and comes with $2,500 prize.
