Fox News Latio highlights News en Español program

Posted 7-11-2012 by Barrie Hill

Fox News Latino recently profiled the Department of Communication's UTA News en Español in a recent broadcast and in a story on the media outlet's website.

UTA News en Español, which airs weekly on UTA's campus channel, provides students with hands-on production and on-air experience. Most of the students who work with the UTA News en Español are Hispanic.

The program is the only one of its kind in the state, but has garnered viewers across Texas, and from as far away as Spain, says broadcast lecturer Julian Rodriguez.

The content of the 30-minute program is produced entirely by Communication students, giving them a competitive edge when applying for jobs with local media outlets. Many of UTA's Spanish speaking students serve as interns and land jobs with Telemundo and Univision when they graduate, Rodriguez said.
