UT Arlington students needing an internship to graduate or to gain experience in their field of study will have an opportunity to find one at the Fall Internship Fair Tuesday, Sept. 4.
The fair will be hosted by InternInDFW, a program that assists students in finding internships and employers in finding needed interns.
InternInDFW is supported by the Governor’s office, more than 30 area cities and the American Advertising Federation Student Chapter at UTA. AAF is assisting with the event and members are encouraging UTA students to take advantage of the opportunity.
Students in the Department of Communication are encouraged to take advantage of internship opportunities. The Department provides an open elective which allows students to use an internship experience as a for-credit course. Most internships qualify for three hours of upper-level course credit.
“We encourage students to make contacts in their field and to see their career choice from the inside,” said John Macejak, the department’s head of advising.
About 125 businesses, startups and nonprofit organizations from the DFW area will attend the InternInDFW fair with the goal of finding interns for Fall 2012 and future semesters.
As many as 300 available internships will be represented. The event will also provide an opportunity for students to network with other students and potential employers.
Students can attend the event for free but must register in advance. The first 800 students to register will be allowed to attend. Students can register and find more information at the InternInDFW website at www.InternInDFW.org.
The event will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Omni Park West Hotel in Dallas.
