Grads turning classroom knowledge into careers

Former members of UTA News en Español recently landed high-profile jobs at local television stations and non-profit organizations.

Broadcast Lecturer Julian Julian Rodriguez appeared on Telefutura 49 this week to talk about the student-run TV program and what the Department of Communication has to offer.
“The opportunities we provide to our students in the Department of Communication are unlike any others found at other educational institutions,” Rodriguez said. “We strive to provide a strategic educational balance between theory and practice in our undergraduate programs.”

Sonia Salas (left), former member of UTA News en Español, was recently hired as floor manager for Univison23´s morning show. She’ll join Reyna Cavazos (right), a former UTA News en Español executive producer and anchor, who currently works at Spanish-language station as morning video editor and traffic/weather anchor for the morning show.
Edgar Maldonado, a former UTA News en Español reporter, was also recently hired as Bilingual Communications Manager for the American Red Cross in Dallas.
