UTA Radio is having a busy fall. UTA Radio Sports lost out to Wisconsin for Best Sports Play By Play at the National Student Production Awards put on by College Broadcasters, Inc. Jordan Victorin and Josh Sours were nominated for their call of UTA Baseball’s upset of Texas A&M earlier this year.
UTA Radio garnered three first-place finishes in the south-central competition for the National Broadcasting Society at its annual awards program held at the MAC Nov. 2. Matt Jones won for Best News Feature. Chelsie Pierce was honored for Best PSA. Former UTA student Trey Caron was recognized for Best Production/Imaging. The first place winners are now eligible for the national competition.
UTA Radio Faculty Advisor Lance Liguez was invited to speak at the Chicago convention of the College Media Association Nov. 3. Liguez’s presentation titled, “Still Growing: Opportunities for Internet Radio,” looked at the growth and success of UTA Radio as a model for other college Internet stations.
