UTA’s chapter of Association for Women in Communications, AWC, is gearing up for the fall semester. The group’s faculty adviser is new UTA lecturer Carie Kapellusch.
“The mission of the AWC is to enhance the lives of local communications students by promoting leadership and positioning its members at the forefront of the evolving communications era,” Kapellusch said.
Founded in 1909, the AWC is a professional organization that champions the advancement of women across all disciplines of communication by providing professional development and networking for its members.
Members will gain the benefits of networking, camaraderie and professional development which will pay for an AWC membership many times over throughout students’ communication careers. Membership is open to all communication majors from marketing to journalism, design to writing, photography and public relations.
An informational meeting will be held Wednesday Sept. 11 at noon in the Fine Arts Building Room 414.
Membership cost is $39 annually and is open to everyone with an interest in growing and developing as a professional.
