The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation accepted Angela Ortiz, BCMN ’16 cum laude, to its Media Sales Institute program in Washington, D.C. from June 5-17. This is an intensive, 10-day program for graduating seniors and recent college grads that trains young professionals in radio, television, cable, digital and Internet sales. A career fair is held at the end of the course where candidates engage in one-on-one interviews with media company executives. More than 75 percent of the participants are hired by media companies two weeks to one month after their completion of the program. Ortiz’s participation in the program is fully funded by the Institute. Ortiz works at Telemundo 39 and recently moved from her position as a marketing associate to sales associate.
