Patrick Modrovsky, May 2011 broadcast graduate, received a Lone Star Emmy Award for his producing work on The High School Spotlight for FOX Sports Southwest.

"It's one of those things that you don't think in a million years will happen to you," said Modrovsky about learning he had garnered the coveted industry award.

The Department of Communication alum started out as a production assistant, working for FOX while taking classes at UTA. He worked his way into a producer slot, producing his first show when he was 21.

Modrovsky credits his UTA broadcast professors, Dr. Andrew Clark and Julian Rodriguez, with providing a solid foundation and a strong broadcast background.

"Because they have both worked in the industry, they know what works and what doesn't," he said. "They taught me the importance of meeting deadlines and not being statisfied with the average -- that a little bit of extra work can really make a project stand out."

Modrovsky continues his work for FOX Sports Southwest as a freelance associate producer/editor. He is producer of FOX's "DQ Big Game of the Week."
