UTA's Communication Technology major prepares students to design and utilize the latest communication technology for the modern web, such as responsive/mobile-first web design, interface design, interactive multimedia creation, web applications and internet marketing. Sucess in these exciting jobs requires a range of knowledge and skills; our courses are designed to prepare students to meet these challenges. All majors are required to take Writing for Mass Media, Communication Theory, Communication Technology and Communication Law and Ethics.

In the major, students can look forward to taking courses introducing them to a variety of skills and the latest developments in communication technology and web related fields. Courses include:

Students apply what they learn in class to develop websites or applications for real-world clients, providing them with valuable experience and an opportunity to develop their portfolios. Once they reach upper division status, many intern with Web design firms, Internet marketing companies, e-commerce companies, local businesses and communicty organizations, often receiving job offers after their internships.
