RHOP Current Activity

To ensure the rural perspective is addressed concerning multiple health care issues and policy, the RHOP, through its Director, maintains participation and/or leadership in the following:

  • Center for Hispanic Studies in Nursing and Health
    • Advisory Committee Member
    • Exploring multiple collaborative opportunities regarding health care provider and consumer education for the Latino population
  • UT Arlington Hispanic Serving Institution
    • Advisory Committee Member
  • Mental Health Mental Retardation of Tarrant County
    • Advisory Committee Member for U-Prevent Grant
  • Tarrant County Voices for Health
    • Steering Committee Advisory Group Member
    • Providing rural perspective to county community health initiatives
  • National Rural Health Care Association
    • Participating in on-going grassroots conference calls and webinars as well as receiving various communications to remain current on health care issues affecting rural America; maintain membership in association
  • North Central Texas HIV Planning Council
    • Participate in on-going communications to remain current on HIV rural health care issues; served as grant reviewer for Ryan White grant prior to submission to HRSA
  • Texas Department of State Health Services Prevention Materials Review Panel
    • Serve on a panel that reviews marketing materials in multiple mediums to be disseminated throughout Texas
  • Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals
    • Attend annual conference and participate in informational webinars and conference calls
  • Texas Association of Rural Health Clinics
    • Participate in on-going communications regarding current issues affecting rural health clinics
  • Texas Rural Health Association
    • Maintain membership in Association
    • Will be attending annual conference in 2015
  • U. S. Department of Health and Human Services – Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
    • Established collaboration to serve as host for insurance marketplace enrollment events as needed
  • U. S./Mexico Bi-national Health Care Symposium
    • Conference Planning Committee member, 9th year
    • Hosted Symposium at UT Arlington, 8th year
  • National Diabetes Education Program's Hispanic/Latino (H/L) Stakeholder Group
    • Advisory committee Member
    • Participate in on-going communications and webinars regarding Diabetes

In addition, the Director participates in additional conferences and webinars, as applicable, to remain current on rural health care and policy issues. The RHOP disseminates information through its website, College newsletters, and requests for presentations by the Director.
