Welcome to the Department of Kinesiology

Kinesiology is an academic discipline that focuses on the study of movement and physical activity and its impact on health, society, and quality of life. The Department of Kinesiology is part of the College of Nursing and Health Innovation and furthers UTA's mission to improve health and the human condition as our society moves into the 21st century.

VISION

The Department of Kinesiology improves human health by advancing the understanding of health and disease across the lifespan through research, education, scholarship and practice.

MISSION

The Department of Kinesiology at The University of Texas at Arlington is committed to providing quality educational programs that emphasize scientific theory, hands-on learning in the laboratory setting, and real-world application through clinical internships and other field-based experiences. The faculty in The Department of Kinesiology conduct cutting-edge research related to health and disease across the lifespan.

About Our Programs

The Department is comprised of five undergraduate programs (Clinical Health Professions, Fitness/Wellness, Physical Education Teacher Education, Sport Leadership and Management, Public Health), a Graduate Certificate program (Public Health) two master's programs (Exercise Science and Athletic Training), and a Ph.D. in Kinesiology.
