To all Fall 2012 graduation candidates,
Congratulations on your anticipated graduation from the UT Arlington College of Science! No additional registration is required for participation in our ceremony, which is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 16 in College Park Center (CPC) on the UT Arlington campus. Graduates should arrive at the west entry of CPC for check-in between 2:30-3 p.m. The procedure for the ceremony is very simple, but it is important that you arrive on time so that you can receive all the necessary instructions. The north and northwest doors of CPC will open for guest seating at 2:30 p.m. We anticipate that the ceremony will conclude before 5:30 p.m. This semester, the College of Science will be having a joint ceremony with the College of Architecture. Guest speaker will be Lee Krystinik, who earned a B.S. in Geology from UT Arlington in 1977 and is principal and founder of Fossil Creek Resources. He is also president elect of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
Tickets are required for all guests attending the ceremony, including children. Each graduate will receive a minimum of 6 tickets to the ceremony, and will have the option to claim up to 8 additional tickets on a "first come, first served" basis (maximum total of 14 tickets per graduate) on Tuesday, November 20, when ticket distribution begins. Graduates will receive a message to their MavMail account containing their unique ticketing password and log-in at approximately 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 20. Tickets are available to be downloaded and printed until 3:30 p.m. on December 16. Guests must arrive with printed tickets — no electronic images can be accepted, as they cannot be scanned from the screen of a phone, iPad, etc. Please suggest to your guests that infant strollers and helium balloons be left in their vehicles, as they cannot be brought into the arena. These items can be checked at Guest Services in College Park Center if brought to the ceremony.
Parking is available in the Park North, Park Central and Park South Garages between Center and Pecan Streets, or in Lots 38, 39, F11 and F12. Additional parking is available south of CPC in Lots 47, 53, F10, Lipscomb Hall and Continuing Education. There will be a drop-off for guests with mobility issues on Center Street near the north entrance to CPC, and handicapped parking will be available in the South Parking Garage, accessible from Center Street. See http://www.utacollegepark.com/visit-us/map.php for locations. Please be sure that guests are aware that they may have to walk several blocks from parking areas to reach CPC.
After the ceremony, you will meet your guests on Moritz Plaza, between CPC and the South Garage. Graduates will be escorted from the ceremony directly to the plaza and will NOT return to the staging area afterward. Also, you may not return to the same seat after crossing the stage, so all personal items should be locked in your car or given to your guests for safekeeping, including purses, keys, cameras, sunglasses, etc. This includes cell phones! Also, be aware that you may be standing for long periods of time, so please wear comfortable shoes. If you have any mobility issues, please notify Lori Norris no later than Monday, December 3 so accommodations can be arranged (817-272-3494 or norris@uta.edu .)
Please stop by the UT Arlington Bookstore right away or call them at 817-272-2785 for complete information on ordering caps and gowns. Masters and doctoral candidates should contact the Bookstore immediately to order regalia for the ceremony. Also, doctoral candidates should submit the name of their supervising professor, and the person hooding them (if different) to Kent Long ( kentlong@uta.edu ) by Monday, December 3. You are responsible for arranging for someone to hood you — do not assume your department chair will take over if your professor cannot attend.

Complimentary proofs will be mailed to the graduates soon after the ceremony. If you have any questions, please contact Flash Photography via their website at www.FLASHphotography.com .
