College of Science Spring 2016 Graduation Information
College of Science Spring 2016 Graduation Candidates:
The College of Science ceremony celebrating Spring 2016 graduates is scheduled for Friday, May 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. in College Park Center (CPC) on the UT Arlington campus. We recognize that this is an exciting yet very busy time in your life, and hope that you will take just a moment to complete this brief exit survey regarding your experiences as a student in the College of Science: https://www.uta.edu/php-lib/machform/view.php?id=2081. Please note that the College of Science does not require an additional RSVP or registration to participate in our ceremony. If you are receiving this message you are on the College of Science list for graduation.
Tickets are required for all guests attending the ceremony, including children. Guests must arrive with printed tickets. Tickets cannot be scanned from the screen of a smart phone, iPad, or other electronic device. Graduates will also be required to present a separate ticket for backstage admission. Be sure to print your graduate ticket when accessing tickets for your guests and bring it with you to the ceremony!
For the convenience of your guests who may not be able to travel or leave work early enough to attend, we are excited to announce that the ceremony will be live-streamed so it can be viewed on-line as it is happening at www.uta.edu/commencement. The ceremony will also be professionally videotaped and will be available at no charge for download several weeks afterward on the same website.
The procedure for accessing ceremony tickets is very important – please read these instructions carefully:
Ticketing Offer #1 (April 19-May 2)
: The ticketing site will go live at approximately 10 a.m. on April 19. You will need to log into www.utatickets.com and follow the prompts to claim your graduate ticket, up to 6 guaranteed guest tickets reserved in your name, and up to 4 additional guest tickets while quantities last. You must claim your tickets during this first offer to receive the six guaranteed tickets. This offer will expire at noon on May 2, at which time your six reserved guest tickets will no longer be available. All unclaimed guest tickets will be returned to a central ticketing pool for redistribution. The number of additional tickets past this point will depend entirely on how many graduates have already claimed tickets, but we expect that science majors will be able to claim plenty of additional tickets in the second and third offers.
Ticketing Offer #2 (May 3-9): Graduates will be able to claim additional guest tickets (if available) from the central ticketing pool after 10:00 a.m. while quantities last. This offer will expire at noon on May 9. Please note that due to the number of Spring graduates in Science, we are NOT expected to run out of tickets during Ticketing Offer #2.
Ticketing Offer #3: If there are still tickets available after Offer #2 (we expect that there will be) on May 10, additional tickets will be available to graduates until the date and time of the ceremony. If the tickets sell out prior to ceremony time (NOT expected for our Science ceremony) unticketed guests could claim stand-by tickets at the box office. Stand-by tickets become valid approximately 10 minutes before ceremony time. To date, we have never sold out a ceremony, even when numbers of graduates were significantly higher.
Please stop by the UT Arlington Bookstore soon, or call them at 817-272-2785 for complete information on ordering caps and gowns. The deadline for ordering regalia is March 25. Special “Grad Finale” events will be held at the Bookstore on March 22-24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to assist you with regalia orders. Masters and doctoral candidates should contact the Bookstore immediately to order regalia for the ceremony, if you have not already done so.
Spring 2016 Graduation
Graduation announcements or invitations are optional; if desired, they can be ordered online at www.jostens.com.
FLASH Photography will photograph each graduate during the commencement ceremony. Complimentary proofs will be mailed to the graduates soon after the ceremony, using information you will provide on the back of your graduate card at check-in. If you have any questions, please contact Flash Photography via their website at: www.FLASHphotography.com.
Parking for the ceremony will be available in the Park South, Park Central and Park North Garages on Center Street between UTA Boulevard and CPC. Additional parking will be available in Lots 38, 39, F11, F12, 47, 53, F10, and at Lipscomb Hall and the Center for Continuing Education. There will be a drop off for guests with mobility issues on Spaniolo Drive across from the main CPC entrance in the Arlington Hall circle drive. Disabled parking will be available in the Park South Garage on all levels, and an elevator is available. See http://www.utacollegepark.com/visit-us/map.php for locations. Please be sure that your guests are aware that they may have to walk several blocks from parking areas to reach CPC from parking areas.
Please notify your guests that graduates will exit the arena through a private hallway onto Moritz Plaza on the north side of CPC. Guests will exit through the north, northeast and northwest entrances, and should plan to meet graduates on Moritz Plaza. It may be helpful to identify a meeting spot in that area prior to the ceremony. Please make your guests aware that helium balloons and strollers are not allowed in CPC, and should be left in their vehicles. If these items are brought to CPC, they must be checked at Guest Services prior to the ceremony.
Be aware that you may be standing for long periods of time, so please wear comfortable shoes. If you have any mobility issues or need any other form of accommodation, please notify Lori Norris no later than April 29 so appropriate arrangements can be made (817-272-3494 or norris@uta.edu.).
Because there is no secure storage area backstage during the ceremony and you will not return backstage, no personal items should be brought backstage, including purses, keys, cameras, sunglasses, etc. This includes cell phones! Please leave all personal items locked in your car out of sight, or with your guests.
