| To all May 2012 degree candidates, congratulations on your upcoming graduation from the UT Arlington College of Science!
Our College of Science Spring 2012 commencement ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 13 in College Park Center, 601 South Pecan Street on the east side of campus. Graduates should arrive between 3:30-4 p.m. through the west entrance to CPC (Pecan at 3rd Street) and check in with our staff. The procedure for the graduation ceremony is very simple, but it is important that you arrive no later than 4 p.m. so that you can receive all the necessary instructions.
The north and northwest entrances (Pecan at 1st Street) will open for guests at 3:30 p.m. Your guests can enjoy live music by the UTA Jazz Orchestra before the ceremony begins. Guest speakers will include Thaddeus Arroyo, chief information officer of AT&T, and UT Arlington President James Spaniolo. The commencement ceremony is expected to last about 90 minutes.
Pecan Street will be closed from 3rd Street to 1st Street to provide a safe place to meet your families after the ceremony. Please be sure your guests are aware that they will exit CPC by the north or northwest doors. Graduates will exit by the west doors. Please plan to meet your families in the Pecan Street mall area, rather than at a door.
Parking for the ceremony is recommended in the Park North Garage on UTA Boulevard at Center Street, or in Lots 38, 39, F11 and F12. It is likely that lots south of CPC may still be occupied from the previous ceremony when your guests arrive, but overflow parking is available south of CPC in Lots 47, 53, F10, Lipscomb Hall and Continuing Education. There will be a dropoff spot for guests with mobility issues at Pecan and 3rd Streets, and handicapped parking will be available in Lot F13 across Pecan Street, accessible from 4th Street. See http://www.utacollegepark.com/visit-us/map.php for locations. Please be sure that guests are aware that they may have to walk several blocks from parking areas to reach CPC. Graduates are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, as you will be walking or standing for a long period of time.
Tickets are required for all guests attending the ceremony, including children. COS graduates are eligible for up to 16 guest tickets. Please download only the number of tickets you actually need. Tickets are available to be downloaded and printed until 3:30 p.m. on May 13. Guests must arrive with printed tickets; no electronic images can be accepted, as they cannot be scanned from the screen of a phone, iPad, etc.
You will receive full instructions on how to access your tickets in an e-mail to your Maverick e-mail account on April 17 at approximately 9 a.m. Be sure your Maverick e-mail login is active so that you will be able to claim your tickets. Initial commencement information was emailed to graduates on April 2. If you did not receive this email, please contact Lori Norris in the Dean's office at |
