CHEMISTRY FACULTY MEMBER, POST DOCTORAL RESEARCH STUDENT TO PRESENT IN PRAGUE
Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Kevin Schug and his Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Dr. Petr Frýčak, will attend the 17th International Mass Spectrometry Conference in Prague, Czech Republic, at the end of August to present research performed at UT Arlington. Schug's lecture is titled, “Solution Phase versus Gas Phase Molecular Recognition by ESI-MS:  Is the System Dependence of Phasic Correlation Generally Surmountable?”  This presentation will discuss state-of-the-art use of electrospray ionization mass spectrometry to study solution phase-based molecular recognition systems through their transformation into gas phase ionic complexes.  Frýčak will present complementary information related to this subject in his poster titled, “Mass Spectrometric Measurement of Binding Affinity of Non-Covalent Complexes in Presence and Absence of Solvent.”  The IMSC is held every three years and is considered the premier international venue for dissemination of research in mass spectrometry.  Attendees are expected from more than 30 countries worldwide.  Additionally, two former Nobel Prize laureates will be in attendance.Next
