Donor Profile DR. THOMAS R. HELLIER, JR. and MRS. EVELYN F. HELLIER – Dr. Hellier received his B.A. and M.S. in Biology from the University of Florida and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. and Mrs. Hellier were married in 1952, and he began his academic career at Arlington State College in the fall of 1960 as professor of Biology. Dr. Hellier was an expert in Ichthyology (the study of fish) and was instrumental in the creation of the department’s M.S. degree program. He was also a Nedderman Society member and longtime member of the Friends of the UT Arlington Libraries. Evelyn Hellier was the Secretary for the Friends of the UT Arlington Libraries. Dr. Hellier retired in 2006 after 46 years of service, but he continued to be an active member of the UT Arlington community until his death in December 2013.
