Donor Profile H. A. D. DUNSWORTH served as a faculty member in the Mathematics Department at UT Arlington for nearly half a century. Known as “Hoss” to his friends, he was born in the small town of Nobility, Texas. He first came to Arlington to finish high school in 1918 and later attended tiny Grubbs Vocational College, where played on the football team and achieved the rank of Major in the cadet corps. He completed his degree at Denton Normal (later the University of North Texas) and then returned to Arlington to teach at Arlington High School from 1924-25. He began teaching physics and chemistry labs at North Texas Agricultural College (now UT Arlington) but did not become a member of the Math Department until 1926, where he stayed for the next 47 years, with the exception of a 3-year stint in the Air Corps during World War II. He served the community as a member of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, the Arlington City Council, and as a Shriner. At UT Arlington, he helped found both the Ex-Letterman’s Club and the Maverick Club and was president of both organizations. He twice headed the UT Arlington Alumni Association and served on its board of directors
