Donor Profile JAMES L. HORWITZ was a Professor and Chair of the Physics Department at UT Arlington from 2004-2009. In 2008, he was elected to the Executive Committee of the American Physical Society. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. Horwitz graduated from the University of California - San Diego. He served his post doctorate at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center for two years and then spent the following 26 years as a Professor of Physics at the University of Alabama – Huntsville. During this time, he also served as the Associate Director for the Center for Space Plasma and Aeronautic Research. He loved music, traveling, the outdoors, and ethnic cuisine. He was also an avid football fan whose favorite team was the San Diego Chargers. He enjoyed spending time with his two sons, David and Stephen, and his wife, Taeko.
