Welcome from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice! Our department is home to nationally recognized faculty whose diverse areas of expertise allow for our students to receive a strong and well rounded academic experience. In addition to their exceptional research record, the faculty of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice excel in the classroom and often challenge our students to think outside the box while enhancing their critical thinking skills. The faculty’s excellent teaching record has led some of them to be recipients of prestigious teaching awards in the College of Liberal Arts.
The core principle of our mission statement is to educate our students in order to prepare them for successful careers in the criminal justice system while developing the necessary skills that will allow them to continue their academic studies. We strive to provide students a multidisciplinary approach which recognizes the importance of theory and its application to criminal justice system components. Our students are exposed to concepts in both criminology and criminal justice in an effort to provide them with a unique perspective of the criminal justice system. I hope you find our web site useful and informative. If we can provide any additional information regarding our program, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
