Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I'm new to UT Arlington, how can I find out how to get the services I need in the community?

We encourage our students to use us for more than just accommodations in the classroom but as a community resource.

We have names and contacts with various organizations, which can be of tremendous use to students with disabilities.

We are happy to help students look for attendant care, and other specialized needs often encountered by persons with disabilities.

We often consult with our students to make sure that their rights under the ADA are not violated in a variety of settings.

See Disability Related Sites and Resources for more info.

I have no car and I have a disability. How do I get around in a town that has no buses?

Arlington has no public transportation that's true, but there is a service called Handi Tran, which will transport persons with disabilities inside the Arlington city limits for a small fee. We have their applications in our office, or you can call them at (817) 459-5390.

I use a service animal, will there be any problem bringing it into campus buildings?

Service animals must be permitted to accompany a person with a disability everywhere on campus or off campus as the activity (e.g. internship, field work, etc.) pertains to the curriculum.

For more information, see Service Animals.
