Accommodation Taglines for
University Publications and Programs |
|
To help ensure accessibility in all programs, courses and events
at The University of Texas at Arlington, the following taglines
have been adopted for placement on all University publications,
program announcements, brochures, flyers and syllabi.
The "Host Department" is defined as the individual UT Arlington
department(s) sponsoring an event, NOT the Office for
Students with Disabilities (OSD). The person's primary
contact should be with the host department. The host department
may certainly request consultation with the OSD for any disability
related issues or accommodations. Please contact our office if you
have any questions about accommodation requests at your events.
For more information on how to set up an accessible event, please refer to these event tips and guidelines (PDF 179kb).

Publications shall include the following
statement or its equivalent: |
This document is available in alternative
formats upon request by contacting (name, host department) at (phone
number).
If a text telephone (TDD) number is available, it should also be
included.

Registration materials and program announcements, |
which include bulletins, flyers, brochures,
letters, public service announcements, or other materials used to
inform the public of the event or program must also include the
following statement:
If you need an accommodation to fully participate in
this program/event, please contact (name, host department) at (phone
number/voice). Please allow sufficient time to arrange the accommodation.
If a text telephone (TDD) number is available, it should also be
included. NOTE: A program may designate a date by which it would
like to receive accommodation requests. However, a program may not
refuse to provide an accommodation because the request was not made
by the designated deadline. The program must try to provide the
accommodation.

A syllabus for a course shall include the
following statement: |
The University of Texas at Arlington is on record as being committed to both the spirit and letter of all federal equal opportunity legislation, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). All instructors at UT Arlington are required by law to provide "reasonable accommodations" to students with disabilities, so as not to discriminate on the basis of that disability. Any student requiring an accommodation for this course must provide the instructor with official documentation in the form of a letter certified by the staff in the Office for Students with Disabilities, University Hall 102. Only those students who have officially documented a need for an accommodation will have their request honored. Information regarding diagnostic criteria and policies for obtaining disability-based academic accommodations can be found at www.uta.edu/disability or by calling the Office for Students with Disabilities at (817) 272-3364.
