Testing at the Adaptive Resource Center

Policies and Procedures

These policies and procedures are for all students who are registered with the Office for Students with Disabilities and who also receive the accommodation of taking exams in the Adaptive Resource Center

POLICIES

  • Exams must be scheduled in the Adaptive Resource Center at least 5 class days prior to the test date. (Any exam not scheduled in advance may result in the need to reschedule with your instructor.) Note: Final exams should be scheduled 15 class days prior to the first final exam date on the school’s academic calendar.
  • Exams should be scheduled at the same time the class is scheduled to take the exam. Any variation in time or date will require the instructor’s approval.
  • If the student fails to give the instructor a copy of the “Testing Request Form”, the instructor is not required to deliver the exam to the ARC. The instructor is still responsible for providing the appropriate accommodations as outlined on the accommodation letter issued by OSD, at the beginning of the semester.
  • The student should inform and explain the procedures to the professor. Exams can be e-mailed, faxed, or brought to the ARC in University Hall, Rm. 101. The “Testing Request Form” should indicate any special proctoring instructions and should be included with the exam. The instructor should ensure that the bottom portion of the “Testing Request Form” is completed and signed. This must be done at least 24 hours prior to the time the student is scheduled to take the exam. Note: The ARC strongly suggests that Inter Campus mail not be used to transport exams as same or next day delivery is not guaranteed.
  • The student may not adjust the time or date of the exam without prior approval from the instructor. The instructor must give either verbal or written confirmation of a change in date or time to an ARC staff member. It is the student’s responsibility to negotiate these changes ahead of time with the instructor directly.
  • If a student misses a scheduled test reservation, the instructor will be notified that the student did not take the test at the time it was scheduled and the test will be returned to the instructor.
  • If a student misses two scheduled testing reservations without notifying the ARC, he or she must meet with the Adaptive Resource Center Coordinator before they will be allowed to schedule any further exams.

PROCEDURES

  1. At the beginning of the semester bring your syllabi to the ARC and register your classes with the ARC. Note: This can take some time so arrange for at least ½ hour for this.
  2. Come to the Adaptive Resource Center at least five class days prior to scheduled date of your exam and complete a “Testing Request Form”.
  3. Deliver the “Testing Request Form” to your Professor ASAP
  4. The test and completed form must be received at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled date of the exam. Note: If the test has not arrived at the ARC by the scheduled date and/or time or the instructor, has not contacted the ARC with an alternate time and/or date, the ARC staff will infer that the instructor will administer the test providing the appropriate accommodations.
  5. On the day of the scheduled exam the student should come to the ARC prepared and ready to begin the exam at the scheduled time. Note: If you show up late, your time will not be adjusted.
  6. It is the student’s responsibility to provide any testing materials as needed. (i.e. scantron, bluebooks, pencils, etc…)
