Dr. Dannielle Joy Davis , an assistant professor in the College of Education’s Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department, has been awarded an Association for the Study of Higher Education ( ASHE ) Institute on Equity and Critical Policy Analysis Fellowship for her research on minority students’ postsecondary access and retention. The competitive award identifies promising emerging scholars of higher education and supports their professional development. April 2009.
UT Arlington was one of five north Texas college campuses where Sikh students tied turbans and debunked myths for their spring break. Billed as Sikh Turban Week, the event is intended to clarify the misconceptions ignited after September 11, detail the significance of the turban for Sikhs and showcase one of the region’s fast-growing communities. UT Arlington’s Historically Underutilized Business program was recognized in 2008 among the Top 25 state agencies for their HUB participation, 25.7%. Total HUB expenditures for the 2007 fiscal year were $17,966,338, an increase of 64% in just two years.
In Fall 2006, upon the removal of the flags that were formerly displayed in the atrium of Nedderman Hall, President James D. Spaniolo appointed the Committee on Diversity and International Understanding .
