Background
Dr. Tao joined the faculty of the University of Texas at Arlington in 2001. Prior to that he was the South Central Bell Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Louisiana Tech University. Between 1986 and 1992 he was on the faculty of Materials Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University. His current research interests include atomic-scale engineering of semiconductor interfaces, all wet-chemical fabrication of high-efficiency solar cells, fundamentals of chemical vapor deposition, and active and smart interconnects in integrated circuits. His research has been sponsored by NSF, SEMATECH, SRC, PRF, ATP, and ONR. Dr. Tao has authored or co-authored over 100 journal articles and conference presentations. He received the the Young Faculty Award in 2004 and the South Central Bell Professorship in 2001. He is a member of the IEEE, ECS, and AAAS.
