Figure for HW02

Given: The above figure represents a coaxial conductor with two concentric layers of insulation. The inner conductor has a radius of r0 = 1.0 cm, the inner layer of insulation with a permitivity of ε1 = 2ε0, has an outer radius, r1 = 2.0 cm and the outer laayer of insulation with a permitivity of ε2 = 4ε0 has an outer radius of r2 = 4 cm. Assume that the potential difference between inner and outer conductors is 100 kV. The permitivity of free space, ε0 = 8.854 × 10-12 Farads/m.

Required: Calculate the electric field intensity at r0 and at r1.
