Enrollment Requirement: The student must be enrolled in the Graduate School for the semester in which graduation is planned. Enrollment in courses outside the major and minor fields will not satisfy final semester enrollment requirements. Thesis students must be enrolled in EE 5698; dissertation students must be enrolled in EE 6999 in the final semester.
In addition, the following items must be filed in the Graduate School office and the required fees paid by the deadlines specified in the Graduate School calendar (see http://grad.uta.edu/leftMenuPages/gradcalendar.asp for Graduate School calendar):

Application for Graduation must be filed in the Graduate School office (333 Davis Hall). Applicants will be billed for the Diploma Fee. This should be done as early in the semester as possible. The application and fee are non-transferable and non-refundable. If a student does not graduate, he/she must reapply for graduation and pay the diploma fee again. See Graduate calendar for deadlines.

Application for Candidacy and Final Program of Work form may be obtained from the EE Advising Office (501 Nedderman Hall). This form must be signed by the student, the supervising committee, the Graduate Advisor and the Graduate Studies Committee Chairman. The Advising Office will obtain all approval signatures for non-thesis students. Thesis, thesis substitute, and dissertation students are responsible for obtaining the signatures of their supervising committees; the Advising Office will obtain the signatures of the Advisor and Graduate Committee chairman. The Advising Office will mail the form to the Graduate School for approval by the Dean of the Graduate School. The TSE requirement should be satisfied prior to processing the Final Program of Work. Students wishing to participate in the commencement ceremony must register with the office of the Dean of Engineering. Details are available on the Dean’s webpage at http://www.uta.edu/engineering/commencement.

Caps, gowns, tassels, and hoods are available through the University Bookstore. Each student is responsible for making arrangements for academic regalia. Contact the Bookstore early in the semester concerning availability.

Thesis/Thesis Substitute/Dissertation students must file the Request for Master’s Examination or Dissertation Defense and the Master’s Examination Report or Dissertation Defense Report by the deadlines specified in the Graduate calendar. Blank forms are available in the Advising Office.

Thesis/Dissertation students must submit their thesis/dissertation to the Graduate School for a mechanical check by the specified deadline. The thesis/dissertation must be left in the Graduate School for 48 hours (excluding weekends/holidays) for the mechanical check. For more information about the submission of acceptable theses and dissertations, consult the Thesis and Dissertation Manual of Style available from the Bookstore.

Once the thesis/dissertation has been approved as to mechanical correctness, the student will be allowed to make the final three copies (all on at least 25% cotton bond) and submit them to the Graduate School. At this point, the student must pay the binding and microfilming fees. If the thesis/dissertation is to be copyrighted, the student must pay the copyright fee at this time.

Additional items required of thesis and dissertation students are the following:
a) Typist sheet, Library sheet, Title fly with signatures, and a Data Sheet.
b) Complete and sign the microfilming agreement and attach a copy of your abstract.
c) Dissertation students must complete the National Science Foundation Survey of Earned Doctorates
