March 09, 2021

Dear UTA Students,

In the interest of the health and safety of our community, UTA’s current COVID-19 protocols and guidance will remain in effect through May 31, 2021, at which point they will be reassessed. This decision has been made after review of the latest Governor’s Executive Order, which goes in effect March 10, and its direction that higher education institutions are to follow the most recent guidance issued by the Texas Education Agency.

As a reminder, UTA has in place the following key protocols to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on our campus and protect you and fellow students and employees:

  • Face-Covering Protocol: All students, staff, faculty, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and visitors are required to wear an acceptable face covering while on campus.
  • Social Distancing: UTA strongly encourages social distancing to provide the healthiest possible environment. All campus common areas, including classrooms and dining spaces, will remain modified to facilitate social distancing.
  • Daily Self-Monitoring: The UTA mobile app provides a convenient, confidential tool to assist with conducting a daily self-assessment for COVID-19 symptoms. You can download the daily self-monitoring checklist for easy access. If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, please remain or return home.

Adherence to these protocols by everyone in the Maverick community is critical to minimizing risks to yourself and those around you.

Additionally, UTA encourages all Mavericks to be tested frequently to help curb asymptomatic spread in our community. All UTA employees and students can receive free COVID-19 tests on campus through a partnership with Curative, the provider behind the state’s drive-thru testing services. Tests through this service are administered 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can learn more, including about eligibility, by reading our Curative On-Campus COVID-19 Testing FAQs.

UTA students and employees are strongly encouraged to participate in COVID-19 vaccinations when available to you. We’ve compiled COVID-19 Vaccination Information and Resources to help you monitor public health resources for information regarding eligibility and availability.

The University will continue to closely monitor the recommendations of local, state, and federal health authorities to inform our positions on masks, social distancing and other aspects of campus operations. The most up-to-date information about all things related to UTA’s response to COVID-19 remains available on the Coronavirus Information website.

Sincerely,

John Hall
Vice President for Administration and Campus Operations
Co-Chair, COVID-19 Executive Task Force

Lisa Nagy
