Dear Mavericks,

If you haven’t received the COVID‑19 vaccine yet and are able to, we hope you’ll come to the Maverick Activities Center this Wednesday, Sept. 15, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for our next on-campus vaccine clinic.

We want our Maverick family to get vaccinated, so we’re making it as easy as possible. Vaccines are free with no appointment necessary. Just walk in, push up your sleeve, and get your shot. Walmart—who powers this on-campus opportunity—is administering the FDA-approved Pfizer vaccine.

For those who received their first shot at one of the previous campus clinics, this is your opportunity to get your second dose. If you would like to get your first shot of the Pfizer vaccine on Sept. 15, you will make an appointment to receive your second dose at the Walmart on Randol Mill (near AT&T Stadium) while at the on-campus clinic.

The Sept. 15 clinic is the last of our currently scheduled on-campus vaccine clinics, though we’ll let you know if any more opportunities become available. Regardless, the COVID‑19 vaccine is readily available to you and still free of charge. If you upload proof of vaccination to the COVID‑19 Self Report portal in MyMav by Oct. 4, you will be eligible for large prizes through our Maverick Motivator Program. Prizes include tuition scholarships, free parking and meal plans, and MacBook Pros.

Vaccines are our best defense against the virus and its highly contagious variants. The more people who get vaccinated, the safer we all will be. If you’re on the fence, UTA public health experts Erin Carlson and Rebecca Garner recently offered insight into why the Delta variant of COVID‑19 makes vaccinations even more important.

Hospitals in the region report that they are at or approaching maximum capacity. Now is the time to Mav Up and Sleeve Up if you are able and haven’t already.

If you have any questions, contact covidvaccine@uta.edu.
