Record Enrollment

UTA’s enrollment rose 6.1 percent to a record 37,008 Texas-based students this fall based on preliminary census reports released this week. Combined enrollment in campus-based and online programs is expected to surpass 55,000 students by the end of the academic year.

Rise in Rankings

UTA’s College of Engineering and College of Business both advanced in stature and placement on the annual U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges’ lists released this week. The two colleges have a combined enrollment of more than 12,500 students this fall.

. Helping Hands .

Helping Hands

The UTA FabLab is offering new hope to families in need of low-cost artificial hands by joining Enabling the Future (e‑NABLE), a network of providers offering access to 3‑D print technology. The move will allow visitors to customize and fabricate prosthetic hands for children in a matter of hours for $50 or less, a fraction of the cost of a medical prosthesis.

Hospital Leader

Gary Tucker, who earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from UTA, is the new president and chief executive officer at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, N.Y. He brings 35 years of clinical and administrative experience to the job.

UTA Nights at the Levitt Begin Sept. 25

Enjoy music under the stars at the downtown Arlington outdoor pavilion. The program kicks off Friday, Sept. 25, with a concert by Luke Wade, a finalist on NBC’s The Voice competition. On Saturday, Sept. 26, the UTA Wind Symphony takes the stage. The UTA Jazz Orchestra will be joined by Swedish jazz masters Stefan Karlsson and Magnus Broo on Sunday, Sept. 27. A VIP package including reserved seats and dinner from the J. Gilligan’s tent is available for the Luke Wade concert for $15 per person. Purchase tickets at https://alumni.uta.edu/utanightatlevitt.

Women’s Basketball vs. Baylor in Waco

The UT Arlington women’s basketball team tips off the 2015‑16 season vs. Baylor in the Preseason Women’s National Invitational Tournament in Waco. Plans are in the works for a serious showing of Maverick Pride at Baylor. Watch UT Arlington email for updates on when tickets go on sale.
